It has recently come to my attention that the NCAA has no rules governing the BB that is used in their games. Consequence: Every conference and indeed every school uses what ever BB the wish to (usually prescribed by whatever brand of equipment the are using. I.E. WI has just switched to Under Armor who pays them a bucketful of money to use their equipment. So now, they will switch to the UA basketballs.) There is no standardization for the BBs, but you better believe there is for the equipment they wear in the games. Oh well, who ever thought the NCAA wanted to be fair? I don’t think so! Didn’t someone once say, “Show Me the Money!?”
I suppose they could be as facetious a the NFL and mandate how much the pressure should be. Any way it probably is all for the best. Remember playing pickup with whatever ball someone managed to bring? And that is essentially what they are doing, isn’t it?:”
Are you upset that Wisconsin is moving to UA or that they have to use a different ball? I wonder if the ball has made a difference in any of the games. I am pretty sure that Maryland has been using the UA ball for a long time. When Wisconsin played at Maryland this year on February 13th they beat the then #2 Maryland team 70 – 57.
