College Football Saturday

Nebraska looks like they are on a mission to prove that they are the class of the Big 12.  In their last season in the Big 12 they are putting on a show.  Nebraska started off this week by pounding Kansas State 48 – 13.  The game was not that close.  Next week the Corn Huskers play Texas.  With the Texas loss to Oklahoma last week  it is possible for Texas to have a 3 game losing streak for the first time in years.

There are 4 matchups of ranked teams this week.  All of them look to be exciting games and there may be a few surprises.

(1) Alabama at (19) South Carolina look for the GameCocks to be fresh and ready to go.  If there is a trap game for Alabama this could be it.  Last week the Tide crushed the Gators in what we all thought was going to be a close game.  If the Tide is going to have a let down this could be it.  The GameCocks had a bye last week and have had two weeks to work on this game.  Even though Spurrier does not have the same magic going here as he did when he was coaching Florida he still is a pretty decent coach and will have his team ready to go.   In the upset of the week: GameCocks 38 Tide 35

(12) LSU at (14) Florida  – This is another interesting game.  LSU has been lucky so far this year.  They really should have lost to Tennessee.  If the volunteers had not had two extra Volunteers on the field (I guess  sometimes there can be too many Volunteers) then LSU would not be undefeated.  But they are and are going into the Swamp to play a Gator team that has not been that great.  The Gator coaching staff really needs to move their thinking ahead from last year to this year.  With out Tebow this is a different team and requires much different play calling.  I pin the loss last week for Florida on the coaches.  Urban Meyer is a much better coach than that.  He will get his team going again this week.  Gators 28 – Tigers 17

(23) Florida State at (13) Miami, FL – For the first time in 4 years both teams are ranked when they meet.  This game has always been a knock down back yard fight.  For 9 straight meetings this game has been decided by 10 points or less.  Watch for this game to come down to the final minute.  Seminoles 28 Hurricanes 27

(17) Michigan State at (18) Michigan – This game looks to be the most exciting game of the week.  Neither of these teams were expected to be undefeated by through five games of this season.  Both teams have amazing offense with suspect Defense.  There will not be a lot of Defense played in this game.  This is going to be a shootout.  This is going to be the new look of the Big 10.  Gone will be the days of three yards and a cloud of dust.  The Big 10 is moving on to the high flying Offense that has been around in College football for a while.  Even with saying that this game still will come down to Defense.   Which team can make one stop.  That is how someone will win this game.  Since both teams will seem to score at will in this game they will need their D to step up for one series and force a punt.  Spartans 49 Wolverines 45
