March Forward it the theme for the middle of the month of March. March forward to the NCAA tournament. March Forward toward the NFL Draft. The Alliance of American Football can March Forward to the end of their season. This time of year is such an exciting time in sports. Especially in College Basketball. Even if you are not a basketball fan you know about the tournament and probably either watch some of it or check the scores. With the addition of the AAF for us super football fans it just makes this time of year even more exciting. If you are a Golf fan you are getting excited because the Masters is only a few weeks away. That means that iti is Spring and the Golf season is about to get into full swing. See what I did there? All that and more in The Week That Was.
Alliance of American Football – Winning
I really don’t understand why the biggest media personalities out there are having trouble understanding what the AAF is. The confusion came in this week with the Memphis team signing of Johnny Manziel. Of course there were people saying. How can you give him another chance. He used up his chances to play. Well here is the deal. The AAF is NOT the NFL. There are people playing in the NFL that have done worse things than Manziel has done. Another talking head said that this is just to try and grab attention. Really did you figure that one out all by your self??? Yes you are correct this is about trying to grab attention. This is a start up league. At this point it is all about catching peoples attention so they will try the product out. That is the way the entertainment business works. You need to get peoples eyes on the product. You do that by grabbing their attention. So yes it is an attention grab. So all you talking heads can continue to hate as the AAF continues to March Forward.
Once again the games were all pretty good. The early game on Saturday went back to Bleacher Report Live. Once again I had trouble watching the game. It is easy enough to find but the locking up and having to restart the stream is just not acceptable. At this point bleacher report is costing the AAF viewers. They really need to get this worked out for the last part of the season. With their attention grab out there the numbers are going to soar. LOL Just being silly. I do think that the numbers will climb a bit. They have been good for a start up league and I am pretty sure they will stay good. It is fun football to watch. I think they were smart ot get this going now a year ahead of the XFL. I think that there is probably room for about a 12 team league besides the NFL. There is virtually no chance that three leagues will make it.
NFL trades and Signings
With the start of the NFL New Year last week. The teams were able to finalize trades and start to sign free agents. The week did not not disappoint there was a lot of activity. Some of it good some of it not so good. Of course it would be depend on your perspective. For the Browns the OBJ trade was good. For the Giants not so good. There are some Giant fans that will say crazy stuff like we did not want his attitude anyway. So glad he is gone. Really? You are glad one of the top receivers is going from your team? Good luck to you then my friends.
The League I am sure feels pretty good with themselves over giving Kareem Hunt an eight game suspension. The of course brought up that the mandate is a 6 game suspension so they went really hard on him this time. Maybe he does deserve a second chance. I am not sure. I ask how would you feel if it was your daughter that he hit and then kicked. I would not only want him to never play football again. I would want him to do some jail time or some alternate form of punishment. Like standing on a street corner for weeks with a sandwich board that says he beat women on it. So after eight games we will be back playing football working toward a muli million dollar pay day. Eight games does not seem like such a tough punishment now.
NBA Trouble in Milwaukee, Lakers LOL
As the NBA March Forward to the playoffs is on. Milwaukee has a little trouble with injuries. The injury to Malcolm Brogdon could be a lingering one. Even with Brogdon out the Bucks should finish at worst second in the East. The key here is that he is back for the playoffs. They may not need him in the first round of the playoffs but they will need him from the second round on. Foot injuries are so difficult to predict and the only thing that heals them is a lot of rest. The Bucks are such a young and exciting team it would be a bummer if they got taken out my this kind of injury. So I guess we will see what happens.
On the other end of the March Forward is a crash and burn. The Lakers have been making The Week That Was just about every week. They are beyond a dumpster fire now. LeBron has become one of the team mates that he wanted to trade earlier in the year. He has one of the worst games of his career last week. It was clear that he really was not even trying. If you want to be considered the best of all time you can not put on that kind of display. It was sad. It is times like that when teams wonder what they were thinking when they bring in a player like that. He has all the talent in the world. But if he is going to put on a sad display like that it is difficult for any one to argue that he is the best ever.
The NCAA Tournament is here
The tournament is why we March Forward at all. This is why we have the term March Madness. This tournament is what made it happen. Even if you are not a huge basketball fan you know at least a little about this tournament. You have filled out a bracket and if not you at least know what it means. I hear many people say that this is not the best way to crown a champion. They may well be correct. This is the most exciting way though. One loss and you are done. Does not matter what kind of regular season you had. You could have been undefeated. You lose one game and you are out. That is what makes this such a crazy tournament.
Even the way the teams selected are revealed is exciting. Except for last year when they did some kind of goofy reveal show that lasted two hours. This year it was back to about a half hour show. Get the teams out with some quick analysis and have at it. It is pretty amusing that I am not a huge basketball fan but this is one of my favorite times of the year.
Gold Rush Season Comes to an End
Do you watch Gold Rush. If you don’t. You should. We have been watching from the beginning. The minors have really developed into some different characters. I am not sure how much of the show is contrived and how much of it just happens. It does not matter. it is a great show and if you are not watching it you should check it out. It is one of those shows that when the season ends you are a bit bummed out. It has been part of your tv watching since mid fall when the new season started. Now we have to wait till the fall for the next season to start.
