League MVP – the difference between Regular Season and Post Season. The local guys were having this discussion again. Once again they could not understand the different between the regular season and the post season. I have heard this debate over and over. I may have even wrote a post about it already. Not sure if I just thought about it or did it. If I can find it I will add a link to it here.
The debate all started because the NHL named Nikita Kucherov as their regular season MVP. The problem they had with it is that the Lightning then went on to get swept by the Blue Jackets in the first round of the playoffs. If the award was for a combined regular season and playoffs then I would say they are correct. Every league at least leagues that have a series to decide their championship make a distinction between regular season awards and playoff awards.
I really don’t understand why people have so much trouble with this. The regular season awards are voted on before the post season starts. The reason for that is so that the playoffs do not influence the vote for the regular season awards. It is pretty crystal clear to just about anyone why it is done this way. The post season awards are voted for after the post season has completed. Again makes sense.
Of course it is very possible to have a different regular season and post season MVP. The same people that get this confused are the ones that say certain changes will make the regular season irrelevant. Getting rid of regular season awards would absolutely be a step in the direction of making the regular season less relevant. For some reason again those yelling about this can not see that they are pushing ideas that are polar oposites.
No worries though we already know that those people can not be reasoned with. We also know that they are unable to understand how or why things happen that they are not in agreement with..
League MVP Regular season
To all that are confused. League MVP Regular season awards are given for what happens in the regular season. Post season awards are given for what happens in the post season. It is entirely possible that you could be the best player in the regular season and then completely bomb in the post season. That does not take anything away from what you accomplished in the regular season.
If you want to change the awards to combined regular season and post season. That is fine but then you don’t get to complain about how the regular season keeps getting devalued. At that point why not just get rid of the regular season and just make it a huge playoff.

Aren’t we dealing with mandatory ignorance here? Too true!
Could be but then it would probably make it our fault for listening to their shows. LOL But it sure does give me something to complain about.
