Tyreek Hill – The NFL Shows Again They Don’t Care. They may care but it is not about consistency or justice. They care about money and who can help them make it. If there is one thing that has been consistent it is the random way that the NFL has been dishing out punishment. This is nothing new. It has been this way for a while. The NFL has said in the past that they do not dish out punishment based on the law. They have issues punishments many times when the accused was not prosecuted. That is fine as long as you stay consistent.
Many times there can be an accusation that may not be able to be prosecuted for what ever reason. The person that made the original complaint my not co operate with the investigation. Witnesses may recant their story. There can be many different reasons why someone may or may not be pursued in a legal venue. Leading to that person not being convicted of a crime. That does not mean they did not do it or that they did not threaten to do it.
The NFL has dished out suspensions before even though legal action had not been saugt against someone. There are two examples that stand out here. Ezekiel Elliott of the Cowboys was suspended for six games last year. The suspension came even though the law had determined there was not enough evidence to charge Elliott with a crime. More recently the NFL suspended Jarran Reed six games for a similar accusation that was levied against Elliott. If you just look at these two cases then you see some consistency.
Then you look at Tyreek Hill. The evidence against him was equal to or more than the evidence against Elliott and Reed. There were not charges filed against Hill. But the evidence out there was very compelling. No only were there recordings of Hill threatening bodily injury but there was other evidence that showed something did happen. So what made the NFL not suspend Hill? We don’t know.
This is a bad look for the NFL. Yes you need to be careful in how you dish out the punishments. You do have to be consistent. What is the point of making a zero tolerance policy and setting the minimum first penalty of six games if you are going to randomly decide how to enforce those policies.
If the NFL is not going to suspend Tyreek Hill then the Chiefs should take it upon themselves to suspend him. There is zero chance that will happen.
Yes, this is an outrage. But then this is the NFL! Business as usual, maybe this is “Fake Sports!”
