As the 5th game of the season winds to a close its still tied 13-13 and the packers have the ball maybe they’ll win maybe they won’t. I can’t help but wonder how once again despite a dominating at time performance the packers once again find themselves in need of last second heroics. Whether it is penalties or allowing stupid sacks or giving away stupid turnovers or not playing defense with intensity just sort going through the motions it all boils down to one thing a sad lack of discipline that boils down to poor coaching . This lack of discipline has made one of the most talented teams in the NFC despite all injuries the most frustrating team in the league to watch and I say that knowing that the lions and the raiders play in the league too. What makes it so frustrating is that they have been able to move the ball at will against everybody they have played but then somebody will take a drive killing penalty or commit a turnover and this allows the other team to hang around so while the packers are 3-1 it doesn’t feel like it and I have heard from many a Packer fan that this team is no longer fun to watch it is just frustrating. Maybe it is just high expectations that having us expecting to much but i doubt it because at times this team has flashed just how dominant it can be. Unfortunately they have also shown how bad they
can it seems to stem from a lack of focus then when it seems like

they might lose they put it back together to win the game at the last second continually playing down to their competition but thats why they are 3-1 possibly 3-2 instead of 4-0 maybe 5-0.
I think that their problems go all the way to the top. Ted Thompson thinks that he knows everything about everything and that he can make no wrong move. That was blown out the door in the first game of the season when Ryan Grant went down and there was no one to step in. Brandon Jackson had a good game today but that is the exception not the norm. The Packers need a huge attitude change from GM to Coach to Players. If they can’t make that change they will be hard pressed to make the playoffs this year.
Oh I agree Ted Thompson is part of the problem but thats a whole different can or worms and has nothing to do with the actual play of the players.
I don’t know if I totally agree with that. I think that the attitude of a GM can change the way that players play the game. Now when it comes to the ‘actual’ play then the coach and the GM have nothing to do with it. They are however the ones that get them ready to play and to make the decisions that the players will make on the field. There is no question that the talent is there. It is the execution that is the problem and that falls on the coach and the GM
I partially agree! However, there are just too many goofs by the Coach (I do mean McCarthy) Even with all of the other problems they would have won the game if he had just allowed Crosby to kick the field-goal from the 1 ft line early in the game. Going for the TD on 4th down violates all football and common sense. Too many injuries will cause a long term problem. When I played football (last century) we were told, “if you hit them harder than they hit you you will never get hurt!” Isn’t that coaching?
