This past Sunday was the most egregious example of poor sportmanship that now pervades the NFL! Deliberate hits designed to injure another player need even more egregious punishment. I think I watched each and every one of those deliberate helmet-to-helmet hits. Inspite of out-raged protests by the guilty, there is no doubt that every one of these hits was designed to hurt the other player. There are simply no acceptable excuses. Perhaps even worse than these offenders are the so-called “sports reporters” most of whom are former NFL players, decrying the valid efforts of the NFL to stop the offenders as “interfering with real-football!” Ha! The real players were back in the era of Super-bowls I & II. You only saw real play in those days. If some plays resulted in injury, there was never a deliberate attempt to permanently injure a player and put him out of the game! While there are talented and decent players in today’s game, it has unfortunately been overun, by what can only be described as “hoodlums” no matter how talented they may be. More power to the NFL enforcers…please save our game!

James Harrison has said that he may retire due to the new rules. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5706748 I’m not sure what this says but what I get from it is that he is saying if he is not allowed to hurt people then he does not want to play. Let him retire then.
