Dolphins Continue Confusing Year – Bench Josh Rosen and name Ryan Fitzpatrick starter.  No one really knows what is going on in Miami.  Just last week Dolphins coach Brian Flores said that Josh Rosen would be the starter for the rest of the year.  When the Dolphins were getting beat by the winless Redskins.  He benched Rosen and put Fitzpatrick in.  Fitzpatrick almost pulled out the win.  The Dolphins lost 17-16 after missing a two point conversion.  Which if they had made.  Would have taken them out of the first pick in the draft.

It was odd when the Dolphins signed Fitzpatrick in the off season.  They had made it seem pretty clear that they were going to go into a rebuild mode.  The Dolphins have been getting rid of players and collecting draft picks.  Sure signs that they are tanking and going for the rebuild.  Clearly everything has been going to plan.  There are two teams that still have a goose egg in the win column.  The Dolphins and the Bengals.  Last week the Redskins were in that club as well.  I am not sure that either of those teams were trying to be bad.  It did seem like the Dolphins were on that path.

Ryan Fitzpatrick will give the Dolphins a chance to  win a few games.  He seems to have an ability to get hot and put up some amazing numbers.  He has had trouble sustaining that kind of play.   But for short bursts he can be a pretty good quarterback.  Rosen has had his problems.  He really has not had a chance to really show what he can do.  So it seemed that this season would be the tryout for Rosen to see what he really could do.   Yes there would be growing pains.  On a team that was expected to lose would that really be a problem?  I would think it would be the whole idea.  You find out for sure what you have.  If by the end of the season he is not showing any improvement then you know it is time to move on.

With what the Dolphins are doing here it is sending a really strange message.  Yes Fitzpatrick gives the Dolphins a better change to win.  It also gives them a better chance to lose the first pick in the draft next year.
