Rivalry Game results from what was a pretty interesting and exciting College Football weekend. Of course it depends on what teams you were rooting for. It appears that Tuesday should be pretty interesting in how the College Football Playoff Committee slots the teams.
Final Score UCF 38 South Florida 10
UCF had little problem with South Florida. The bigger issue for UCF is the loss of their leader. They lost their leader McKenzie Milton to a terrible leg injury in the second quarter. Losing him in this game did not slow them down on the ground but they were limited through the air. Darriel Mack Jr. came into the game and completed only 5 passes the rest of the way. To be fair McKenzie had only completed 5 passes before he left the game. It really did not matter since South Florida could not stop UCF on the ground. Greg McCrae Put up 181 yards on the ground and scored three touchdowns. His production alone was enough to take the win.
What Happens now
We had this game UCF 42 South Florida 24 so it played out pretty much the way most people though it would. The problem for UCF is that even though they are undefeated they have to play a so so Memphis team in the American Conference championship game. Last year these two teams were in the final as well. Memphis was a much better team though and the game when into overtime. IF it goes to OT this year UFC is eliminated from the playoff no matter what happens to the teams in front of them.
Actually UCF is eliminated from the playoff already regardless of what happens to the teams in front of them. They will probably win and could get a pretty good bowl game. If they win that then they can claim they are two time national champions. They will say they want to play Alabama in a winner take all game then. Of course they can yell that all they want since they know it will not happen. That my friends is a good thing. They would get crushed. Especially with out Milton.
Final Score Oklahoma 59 at West Virgina 56
No defense, no problem. That is what we expect from the Big 12 and that is what we got. Really the Big 12 is just ahead of the curve in getting rid of defense and going with all offense all the time. People want scoring and the Big 12 aims to please. Over all this was a pretty exciting game. If you love the offense then this game had everything that you wanted. Kyler Murray had another amazing day statistically. Over 350 yards though the air and over 100 yards rushing. That should help with his Heisman numbers.
What Happens Now
We has this game Oklahoma 42 Weste Virgina 41. It was a close game as expected. Oklahoma winning this game is a good thing for the Big 12. Oklahoma will now have to play Texas in the Big 12 Championship game. While Texas is better then they were last year. They are not yet back to what is usually expected from a Texas team. This will be a better match up than if the Big 12 had a repeat of Oklahoma and West Virgina. I am not saying that the game will be better. I am saying that it gives the Big 12 a better chance of getting into the playoff.
Final Score Washington 28 Washington State 15
A win for Washington and a loss for the PAC 12. A game that eliminates the PAC 12 from the playoff. That is the way rivalry games go at times. Washington state was set up for a great run. They blew it in the snow. Lost to Washington for the 6th straight year and sealed the fate fo the PAC 12. Washington State was really not able to get much of anything going. This game was over all pretty close but Washington was in control for most of this game. At least there was some defense in this game. Was their really defense or was it because of the snow. We will say that there was some defense.
What Happens Now
Washington will play Utah in the PAC 12 championship game. The winner will get to go to the Rose Bowl, maybe. It all depends on how the bowls play out this year. They will get a New Year day bowl. That will be a win for the PAC 12 Champion. Really what this shows again is that we need to change the playoff. Get the conference champion in the game. The PAC 12 has been at a disadvantage for a while now. They have no stand out team right now. They play the bulk of their game late for the East Coast. There is no excitement being generated by any of the teams. It is not for a lack of trying. Just something that has not worked out very well for them so far.

Michigan came they saw and then they completely forgot how to play football. This was an extremely unexpected result. Anyone that says they predicted this was going to happen in a liar. Some one may have made this prediction but it was in jest and not a real prediction. They will probably not admit it but so be it. Ohio State completely dominated both sides of the ball. There was a 15 second section of the second quarter where Ohio State made a few mistakes and Michigan was able to get with in two. Then they ran a crazy play for a two point conversion to try and tie. The result of calling a dumb pass play was a failed conversion.
Sometimes you are trying to out smart the other team and you out smart your self. That is what happened here. Michigan is so desperate to win that they can’t even make a good game plan. Some how the Ohio State defense was able to step it up and make the key stops that they needed to make. The Michigan defense was not able to stop anything. It is difficult to believe that this was the top rated defense coming into this game.
What Happens Now
It will be difficult for the B1G to get a team into the playoff now. Ohio State will need to destroy Northwestern. It will have to be the kind of beat down they gave Wisconsin in 2014. Even doing that it may not be enough. As far as the Ohio State University of Michigan rivalry. This means it is over. The rivalry game cannot mean anything anymore till Michigan knocks Ohio State off. It can’t be the kind of win they had in the year between Jim Tressel and Urban Meyer. For this rivalry to come back at all they are going to have to step it up. When they brought in Harbaugh people though that would be the thing that would make the rivalry come back to where it used to be. That has just not been the case.

Georgia really did not have much trouble with Georgia Tech at all. This game went pretty much as everyone thought it would go. This game was interesting only because a Georgia win sets up the possibility of other things.
What happens now
With Georgia taking care of Georgia Tech that sets up an very important SEC showdown in the SEC Championship game. With Michigan taking a pass at Ohio State there is a possibility for the SEC to get two teams in the College Football Playoff again. A one point Alabama win or Loss could make this happen. The one point loss would almost assure Georgia and Alabama being in. It would be less certain if it is a one point Alabama win but the option for the committee to go that way would still be there.
Final Score Notre Dame 24 USC 17
This game was much closer than we though it would be. In the end Notre Dame took care of business and held on for the win. Giving Notre Dame an unbeaten record and assuring a spot in the College Football Playoff. At 12 – 0 there is no way that the committee will keep them out. It does not matter that this game was close or that their big win over Michigan has less luster after the egg that Michigan laid in Columbus. Notre Dame is a use draw and the Committee loves that their job had been made easier by Notre Dame taking care of their business.
What happens now
The only thing to wait for now is where will Notre Dame be slotted. They are in and will more than likely be either the two or three seed. This is great for them since then they would not have to play Alabama in the championship game. This does not mean they will automatically be in the championship game. It does make their path to get there easier.
