The College Football Playoff for the 2018 season is set. Surprise, Surprise, Surprise – said no one. The teams and the seeds are exactly as predicted. After the games yesterday there really was no need for the Committee to deliberate. We all knew what they were going to do. It was sealed when Oklahoma and Alabama won. We al knew that Clemson was going to win so they could have set it after the SEC championship game.
There was no suspense here. There was no reason for a big reveal show. Everyone already knew what was going to happen here. So with the seeds exactly as expected. This all sets up to have another Alabama Clemson final. I know I know they have to win to get there and if you dont’ want that to happen then beat them. What I am saying is that the path there for these two teams is too easy. Especially Clemson. The way that this has all set up since its inceptions has made it unexpectedly difficult for anyone else to get there. Once these teams had set the precedent they have had a much easier time in the recruiting department. As long as the playoff stays this format we are stuck with this.
So here is what will happen.
Alabama 56 Oklahoma 42
Clemson 35 Notre Dame 17
Then we will have a game that no one outside of South Carolina and Alabama will care about.
Championship Game Alabama xx Clemson xx – I have no prediction yet. Does it really matter?
The College Football Playoff is about finding the the best teams. Not sure you can do that the way we currently do it. That does not mean that College Football Playoff did not get it right. It means that we are ending up with a playoff that at some point people wil become less interested in.
Hmmmm! I guess I will cheer for OK & ND. That could make it interesting.
Yes that sounds good. How ever I am not sure that either of those teams has a chance to win. I guess anything can happen but I do not expect it to.
