Kyrie IrvingKyrie Irving for the Win – Not sure what that win is though.  We are not fans of Kyrie here at BiglakeSports.  That is ok though we are fans of him in the sense that he keeps us entertained.  It is difficult to tell how he got to the point where he says the things that he does.  Maybe he is trying to emulate someone.  He could have gotten some bad advice.  He may just not understand the power the words of someone in his position carry.  I really don’t know.

Kyrie Irving is for the most part a pretty good basketball player.  With out him the  city of Cleveland would not have their only championship in the last 60 or so years.   Kyrie scored the basket that gave the Cavaliers the win over the Warriors in the 2016 NBA Finals.  So even if Cleveland does not like Kyrie Irving now they have a reason to at least hold a space in their heart for him.

After that win. Things really changed for Irving and the Cavaliers.   For the next go around with the Warriors in the finals he played pretty well but with out the same results.  After the 4 – 1 loss in the finals to the Warriors Irving asked to be traded from the Cavaliers.  They worked out a trade and Kyrie Irving got what he wanted.  Out of the shadow of the best player in the NBA out of Cleveland and on to a team and a city with many championships.  There have been season where it seems Boston had won more championships than Cleveland has in all of their combined existence.  Boston has won a combined 39 Championships Cleveland 12.   If you take away the 4 championships they won with the Browns before they were in they were in the NFL then they are down to 8.  Eh we will give them the 12 they need it.

What I am getting to with this is that Kyrie Irving got what he wanted.   Going to a city with a history of winning.  Out of the shadow of LeBron James.  The top dog on a team that would have a chance to compete to be the Eastern conference champion.  He got the dream job he wanted.   I guess be careful what you wish for.  It may not turn out the way that you expected.

Boston had an alright regular season.  Finishing fourth in the Eastern Conference.  They drew the Pacers in the first round of the playoffs.  The Celtics were able to sweep the Pacers out in four straight games.  The scores in those games were pretty close but the Pacers were never in the series.  This would mean that in the second round of the playoffs they would get the Bucks.  The Bucks had the best regular season record of any team in the East or in the West.  Pretty impressive.  This would be a great challenge for the Celtics.  In game one the Celtics destroyed the Bucks.  The final score was Celtics 112 Bucks 90.  The “experts” were saying that the series was over.  It would more than likely be a sweep.  They were nearly right.  It almost was a sweep.  They just did not have the team that would do the sweeping correct.

As with any total collapse with a team.  Some one is always to blame.  Not really it is a team sport but the way it works is who ever is the leader is to blame.  This is true not only in sports but with anything.  Even if the leader truly is not the reason.  They will end up having to take the blame.  The Celtics as a team have said that Kyrie is not to blame.  They could be right.  Kyrie asked for this.  He wanted to be the leader. Wanted to be the one that gets all the glory when they win.  The Celtics did not win.  Not only did they not win they got destroyed.

After game one I am not sure how hard Kyrie tried after things went south for the Celtics in game two.  I agree with the experts on that one.  After game two the series was over.  The Celtics were not able to match anything that the Bucks threw at them.  The Bucks dominated them in every way.  They also dominated Kyrie.  Irving ended up shooting 30 percent from the floor for the series.  Oh wait I missed a tenth of a percent.  It was 30.1 percent.  It happens, I get it but really come on that was a pretty ridiculous showing.  I am not a fan of Boston or the Celtics so this really does not upset me.  I just think that it is interesting when a player feels slighted by his current situation.  The player moves on to greener grounds so they can be the star.  It did not work out.  So what now?

I am probably 95% sure the Kyrie will not be with the Celtics next year.  He will probably end up in New York.  There is a slim chance he will head out to the Lakers and team back up with LeBron the guy he had to get away from.  Probably not.   We will find out when the interesting part of the NBA season starts after the champion is decided.  In the mean time he can contemplate the Flat Earthers quest to find the edge at the South Pole.
