Hey Coach Meyer…

In my picks for yesterday I finished 3 -2 not too shabby.  The ones that I lost though I really lost, BAD.  Florida went down to Alabama in a game that looked like an ambush.  Florida had no idea what Alabama was going to do and Alabama seemed to know exactly what Florida was going to do.   Urban Meyer looked unsure of what to do several times during the game.  It was as if Tebow was just not himself…Oh wait that’s right Tim Tebow is in the NFL now and Florida has a new QB this year.  I can just imagine a call that Coach Meyer got last night.  “Coach, this is Tim Tebow.  I just wanted to remind you that I don’t play at Florida anymore.”   Trying to run the same offense that you did with TT is crazy.  No one is going to be able to do what he did.  Calling that jump pass in the first half would have worked last year but this year it set the tone for Alabama to run away with this game.  It is not too late for Florida to turn it around but it is really not looking good for them this year.

In the other losing game for me yesterday.  Oregon showed why they are the highest rated offense in football this year.  It was as if they spotted Stanford a 21 – 3 lead just for fun and to say so what we can score when ever we want to, and they did.  I really was expecting Stanford to win this one.  Andrew Luck did not have a great game but it was all due to the Oregon defense pressuring him and causing him to make mistakes.

Now to the better results.  Michigan State showed that they are a contender in the Big 10.  It is really too bad that they do not play Ohio State this year.  That would be an amazing battle.  Wisconsin played well in this game but Sparty had it all going for it.  Other than their coach having to miss the game due to blood clots.  The health problems with Dantonio has brought this team together and they want to play hard and well for their beloved leader.  Next week he will be coming back at the perfect time when the undefeated Spartans take on the undefeated Wolverines. 

Iowa showed that Penn State is an average team and won easily.  I really thought that this game would be a bit closer but am not surprised by the result of this one.

Oklahoma tried to let Texas back into the game but Texas is in the same boat as Penn State.  After next week Texas will have  a three game losing streak.  Watch for Texas fans to be calling for Mac Brown’s head.  After all he has done for them that is a bummer but just the way it is in sports right now.
