College Game Day – Inspired by Bear Week Two  Last weeks post is here.  Our Picks last week did not go well.  We go the easy one right. Ohio State beat Michigan State pretty easily.  The other two we got wrong.  Florida beat Auburn and Texas beat West Virginia.  I did get it right when it came to picking the under in the Florida Auburn game.  So I guess if betting on that I would have won but in the record department it goes as a loss.  So I am starting out with this new feature with a 1 – 2 record.  After a bit of a slow week last week.  Well as slow as a college football weekend can be.  This week has some very interesting match ups that will contribute to how thing go for the rest of the season.  Now that most teams are past the half way point of the season the games are getting even more meaningful.  If you are going to make a push to the playoff you really can’t afford to lose one today.  Someone is going to win and someone is going to lose.  We are going to make our guess on who those will be.

Florida at LSU

The Florida LSU game is a permanent cross over game for each team.  The first time these two teams met was in 1937.  Since then they have played 65 times.  Florida least the all timCollege Game Day – Inspired by Bear Week Two  Last weeks post is here.  Our Picks last week did not go well.  We go the easy one righte series 33- 29 with three ties.  This game is almost always a close game.  This year will not be any different.  Both teams are on a roll this year.  The LSU offense and the Florida defense have both been in top form this year.   LSU has not played a defense like Florida and the Florida defense has not played an offense like LSU.  This weekend we will find out which of these are real.

Both teams are in the top 10 this year.  LSU is 5th and Florida is 7th.   The way that LSU is playing they could be rated higher.  Last year LSU was also rated 5th.  Florida was rated 22nd.  Those rankings did not make any difference last year with Florida winning 27 – 19.  Last year Florida took LSU out of the playoff mix before they got to the Alabama game.  This year I see LSU keeping their playoff hope alive.

Interesting Game

Oklahoma Vs Texas

Always an interesting game with huge consequences for the Big 12 Championship game. The Red River Rivalry Shootout Showdown.  It really does not matter what you call it.  The game is a rivalry game played in the middle of the year.  Due to the way the Big 12 does their championship it is possible that this is just the first meeting for these two teams this year.  Texas lost a close one to LSU.  No shame in that one.  Oklahoma is still undefeated and having a pretty good offensive season.  Jalen Huts is actually putting up better numbers than Kyler Murray and Baker Mayfield did the past two seasons.  That is really saying something since both those players won the Heisman Trophy.  I do not know if Hurts will end up with better stats at the end of the season but he will put up big enough numbers today to beat Texas.

Upset Game

Iowa at Penn State

This is a game that will cause all kinds of problems for the Big Ten.  Iowa always seems to beat someone they should not.  Every year it messes up someones season.  I am not saying that is a bad thing.  I am saying that it is a good interesting thing.  This year I think that game is going to happen this weekend.  Iowa is an alright team.  Penn State should be better than Iowa.   I do not think that Iowa is going to blow them out.  I think they are going to beat them in a close game.
