You win some and you lose some. Here at the picks we did just that last week.
In the first game we picked Oklahoma to take care of business and rout Kansas State. Oklahoma surpassed what we expected to happen and pasted Kansas State. The final score Oklahoma 58 Kansas State 17. Picks for the week 1-0
In the second game we expected Michigan State to show up and pound out a win against Nebraska. Boy were we wrong on this one. Nebraska decided that they had something to prove and Michigan State was still celebrating their win over Wisconsin. Final Score Nebraska 24 Michigan State 3. Picks for the week 1-1
Some how we managed to not include the USC Stanford game in the picks last week. Which is a bummer because the pick would have been Stanford but since we can’t go back and write the picks over this one just does not count. With the week ending in a push for us our record goes to 19-6 for the year.
This week there are three match ups of ranked teams. I double and triple checked to make sure that all the games are accounted for. This week is going to be tough to pick since the game are between some pretty evenly matched teams.
In the first game (1) LSU at (2) Alabama – last year Alabama won on their way to a BCS Championship. This will be the biggest test of both teams this year. Really did I just say that. Of course it is going to be their biggest test so far. It is a 1 against 2 match up. There has not been a 1 vs 2 match up in the regular season when Ohio State beat Michigan in an amazing game. This game is going to be a fun game to watch. It is going to be a back and forth game where neither team really has an advantage. In this game I see Les Miles pulling out the big trick plays and will sneak by Nic Saban and the Tide. Final score LSU 24 Alabama 21
In the second game (14) Kansas St at (3) Oklahoma St – With Kansas State suffering their first loss last week against Oklahoma things are not going to get any better for them this week. Oklahoma State is a great team this year and has a lot to prove. Since there is a 1 vs. 2 match up this week. Oklahoma State knows that this game is everything. If they win this one they will be able to move up to Number 2 in the country and control their own destiny. I don’t see how Kansas St. is going to stay in this game. They will be zero for the state of Oklahoma this year. Final score Oklahoma St 38 Kansas St 28
In the third game (9) South Carolina at (7) Arkansas – A match up of two one loss teams. With all the turmoil that South Carolina has been through it is amazing that they only have one loss this year. Arkansas is putting up amazing numbers this year on offense. I don’t see that stopping in this game. South Carolina is not bad on Defense but they will not be able to stop the Arkansas assault through the air. South Carolina missing their best player and a QB that has been hot and cold and now out of football I just don’t see then keeping up. Final score Arkansas 42 South Carolina 28.
This week will shape the rest of the season. The Big 10 is out of the Championship hunt this year. It will be a match up of and SEC team and either a PAC 12 or Big 12 team.
Sorry, Not to be obverse, but I am thinking that Alabama will probably prevail…jerk that he is, do not sell Saban short! It is also possible that the B10 will not be shut out of the final. I’m not sure how, but stranger things have happened. Just want to live to see the day when the SEC is out!
I am not selling Saban short I just think that Les Miles and LSU are going to beat them this year. I think that you may be selling LSU short on this one. Last year Alabama beat LSU in LSU. This year I think that it is going to be the other way around. Either way I am pretty sure that one of these teams will have one loss and the other will have no losses this year. As much as I would like to see the B10 make it to the championship game this year I don’t think that they have any chance. I agree that stranger things have happened but this year is not that year.
