Last week was our first so so week for the picks. We went 2-2. While still not bad not nearly as good as we had been doing. We were let down by Florida and Texas A&M.
Florida did not even make it a game against Alabama. When John Brantly went down that pretty much sealed the deal for Alabama since Florida could not mount any Offense at all. The final score Alabama 38 Florida 10. Picks for the week 0-1
Wisconsin showed that they are a contender for one of the top spots in college football this year. They welcomed Nebraska to the Big 10 with a big smack to the face. It is possible that Wisconsin and Nebraska will meet again in the first Big 10 Championship game. Final Wisconsin 48 Nebraska 17. Picks for the week 1-1
Clemson went in the Blacksburg and shut down Virginia Tech. This one was not as close as the score showed and the score was not close. Final Clemson 23 Virginia Tech 3. Picks for the week 2-1
In the final pick for last week Texas A&M let us down. This is a game that they should have won. In this one it really came down to coaching and the coach let their team down. Final Arkansas 42 Texas A&M 38. Picks for the week 2-2
With the 50-50 week last week that puts us at 10 – 3 for the season. Still not bad but could have been much better.
This week there are 3 match ups of ranked teams. This could be another make or break weekend for the picks.
The first match up is (17) Florida at (1) LSU – LSU is back to full strength which sounds a bit strange since they have been rolling though the season. Florida is coming in with out their best player and the dreams of a great season already up in smoke. With out Brantly I don’t see how Florida is going to be able to score at all in this game. Pick: LSU 38 Florida 14
In the second game there is the Red River Rivalry with (3) Oklahoma at (11) Texas (in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas) – This game is one of the biggest rivalry games of each year. Both teams come into this game with perfect records for the season. Oklahoma is coming into this game with one thing in mind. How can we drop two places in the polls when we have no losses. Texas is coming into this game thinking hey we are doing a lot better than last year. This is where Texas comes crashing down. Oklahoma has hopes of making it to the BCS Championship game. In order to move back up in the polls they are going to have to put up some numbers in this game. Texas has won some close games against inferior teams this year. Oklahoma will be their first big test of the season. I really don’t see how Texas will be able to keep up with Oklahoma or keep them out of the end zone. Pick: Oklahoma 35 Texas 17
The final pick of the week is (15) Auburn at (10) Arkansas – This will be a huge test for the Auburn Defense. They have had their struggles this year. Even with their good week against South Carolina last week they are still just a shadow of the Defense Auburn had last year. Look for Arkansas to put up some big number on Offense. Arkansas has the most prolific Offense in the SEC this year and will be looking to put a thumping on Auburn to prove they should be at the top of the league. This will be the year that Arkansas sticks it to Auburn. Pick: Arkansas 38 Auburn 24
